Swaragini-National Inter DPS Hindustani Vocal Music Festival

Delhi Public School, Knowledge Park V, hosted Swaragini, National Inter DPS Hindustani Vocal Music Festival 2023 on 11th October, 2023 with much grandeur and magnificence under the mentorship of the Principal, Ms. Manju Verma. Shri V.K.Shunglu, Vice Chairman, the DPS Society and recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan award, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Executive Director of HRD Centre of The DPS Society and Dolly Chanana, Joint Director DPSS graced the occasion with their august presence. The revered panel of judges for the solo song competition comprised Pandit Prasant Mallick, the 13th generation musician from the 500 year old Darbhanga Dhrupad Gharana and the recipient of the prestigious 'Ustad Bismillah Khan Award’ by The Central Sangeet Natak Akademie, Dr. Rindana Rahasya, Assistant Professor, Department of Music, Delhi University and Dr. Yashpreet Kaur, Assistant professor of music at Delhi University and a renowned Punjabi folk and Sufi singer. Pandit Ashis Sengupta, a dynamic, versatile Tabla player from Banaras and Lucknow Gharana, Dr. Avinash Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Music, Delhi University, gold medalist and a graded artist of AIR and Dr. Vineet Goswami, Assistant Professor, Department of Music, Delhi University were the esteemed judges for the group song competition.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the presentation of mementos to the judges. The event took place at two different venues simultaneously under the able guidance of the Principal. Some of the superlative singers from Delhi Public School all over India showcased their unique artistry and kept the audience enthralled for the entire duration. The event was not only a celebration of cultural and artistic ingenuity but also an exemplary exhibit of a wide range of dynamics, emotions, harmonic language, polyrhythms and rhythmic devices. The performance of the maestros was a testament to their dedication, creativity and determination. Resounding applause by the audience throughout was evident of the magic the performances had cast on them.

Lighting of the ceremonial lamp along with a mellifluous flute recital by Aanjaneya Joshi, a class 7 student, marked the beginning of the Valedictory Ceremony followed by Ganesh Stuti, invoking the Supreme. The vivacity, hues and synchronized moves of Dashavatar, a dance portrayal by students, was a splendid rendition.

The results were declared by the Principal, Ms. Manju Verma. DPS Varanasi secured the first position in solo song category whereas DPS Vasant Kunj and DPS Faridabad secured second and third positions respectively. The first position in the category of group song was bagged by DPS Faridabad. DPS Nacharam secured the second position and the third position was bagged by DPS Mathura Road. DPS Faridabad was declared as the overall winner of Swaragini for their commendable rendition. The overall runners up of the event was DPS Varanasi. The victorious teams presented their musical rendering.

The event turned out to be an unprecedented success, filled with moments of inspiration and exhilaration. It reinforced the school's commitment to excellence in curricular as well as co-curricular activities.
