Cambridge Curriculum: A New way of learning
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”
Cambridge classes have begun giving the students an opportunity to be active participants in their learning during class times with their teachers. The students of Class I identified the pictures of objects that are source of light and those objects that are not a source of light through an experiment. Languages are being taught through hands on activities like sequencing of visual word cards in the correct order with the help of the rhyme introduced. Cam 2 in their Global Perspective class, introduced themselves through the activity ‘All About Me’.
In class III, the students learnt the difference between a phrase and sentence through a hands-on Sorting Activity. In the science class, the students learnt to form carbon-di-oxide gas by mixing baking powder and vinegar.
To introduce the students of Cam IV to Classic Literature, a visit to the school library was made where the children identified the classics like Huckleberry Finn, Treasure Island, The Three Musketeers, Time Machine etc. The children compared and contrasted them with books of contemporary authors like Sudha Murthy, Enid Blyton. This was followed by a listening comprehension on the same.
Infact, excited students have created a reading corner in their classrooms. They also created their own characters for various stories. In Science, the students learnt the difference between gravitational forces with hands on activities. In Global Perspective, children independently drew the map of India. On a large-scale map of the world, they marked the position of India and its neighbouring countries with stickers.
The students of different grades enjoyed learning by doing.
